What exactly is "Edit Transparent Image"? +
It's a new feature that lets you edit any image with a transparent background using plain language prompts — and the transparency stays intact. No need to remove the background again after editing. Just describe what you want changed, and Ideogram handles the rest.
How is this different from the transparent generation feature you already have? +
Transparent generation creates a new image from scratch with a transparent background. This new feature lets you take an existing transparent image and edit it — add details, swap elements, change colors, modify text — all while keeping the transparency. Think of it as the second half of the workflow we were missing.
Do I need a paid plan to use this? +
Nope. Edit Transparent Image is available to all Ideogram users, including free accounts.
Can I use this with images I upload, or only images generated in Ideogram? +
You can use it with any transparent image — whether you generated it in Ideogram or uploaded your own.
What file format do edited images export as? +
Transparent images export as PNG with full alpha channel support, and you can upscale them up to 8K resolution for production-ready output.
I'm a print-on-demand seller. How does this help me? +
Massively. Before this, if you wanted to tweak a design — change a color, add text, swap an element — you'd have to export, edit in Photoshop or another tool, re-remove the background, and re-export.
